At Cal-West Air Conditioning, we know that it is important for our customers to save energy and money when heating their San Diego homes in the winter. That’s why we’ve put together five tips you might not have thought of to help save energy this season.
Get Your Ducts Tested
We provide duct testing services so that we can check for airflow problems or any air leaks. Sealing off your air ducts can save more energy than you might realize. Call us any time for a consultation.
Saving Water
Did you know that saving water can also save energy and money? When they are not needed, turn off any automated sprinkler and irrigation systems you have. When watering your lawn, try to limit leaving your water on to two hours a day. Keep in mind that using a nozzle when you wash your car or water your lawn will also help save water.
Install Ceiling Fans
While it may seem contradictory, you can actually use your ceiling fan in the winter if you reverse the direction of the fan. This helps push any warm air that rises back down into the living space, as well as helps to circulate the air.
Switch to LED Lights
If you simply switch to compact florescent or LED lights, you can save a lot of energy. These also last longer than standard bulbs and now come in different shades and watts.
Install Storm Doors and Windows
Even if you aren’t ready to upgrade to double-paned windows, installing storm doors and storm windows can help cut energy costs down. These are relatively easy to install and maintain.
