Why Proper HVAC Installation is Important

Whether you are retrofitting your home or installing an HVAC system for a new home construction, the installation of any type of HVAC system should be handled by a professional. Units that are improperly sized or installed poorly can create a number of problems, from moisture control issues to decreased efficiency and system failures over time.

Sizing is one of the most important aspects of new HVAC installation. While the ability to size your unit may not seem to be an essential qualification to look for in a contractor, there are many unqualified contractors who do not size HVAC systems correctly. This will cause many problems for homeowners.

Units that are too large will waste energy, and the components will wear down more quickly, which will cost you a lot more money in utility and repair bills in the long run. Oversized heating and cooling systems are often installed in old homes that were built with an inefficient design. Many homes today are much more efficient because of proper design and insulation. These homes do not require high-output HVAC systems; neither do homes that have been updated in the last ten years. When it’s time to replace your old HVAC system, make sure you let your contractor know about any improvements you’ve made to an older home. You contractor should also test the efficiency of your current system to help you make an informed decision about what type of replacement unit is the most cost-efficient for your home.

Additionally, air conditioners can create moisture problems if they are not sized correctly. Proper ventilation and moisture control are important in maintaining comfortable temperatures in your home, as well as helping your system run more smoothly. HVAC systems have to work much harder in homes with poor insulation, improper sealing, inadequate ventilation, and/or moisture control issues, which will cause excessive wear and tear on the system

Installing an HVAC unit on a level surface is also important, since it can break down more often or have other issues if it isn’t. If your unit makes loud noises, or needs constant repairs, it may not be installed on a level surface. You should hire a qualified heating and cooling technician to inspect your unit to make sure it was installed correctly.

Our experienced technicians are highly trained, and we can walk you through the entire installation process so that you know you are getting the best services and equipment. Call us any time if you have questions or would like to schedule a consultation for new HVAC installation.

When to Schedule Your Annual Maintenance Exam for your AC Unit

With routine maintenance tasks, such as regularly changing air filters, you can help keep your AC unit at optimal performance levels throughout the cooling season. However, before the summer months arrive, you should also schedule your annual maintenance exam. Spring is the perfect time to schedule your yearly tune-up for many reasons.

Having a professional HVAC contractor inspect your air conditioner and catch any problems before the season starts is one of the top benefits of the spring annual exam. In addition, it’s best to have your AC system tested on a warm day to get more accurate results. The technician cannot properly test pressure controls on colder days, which is why it is not as practical to have your system tested in the fall when you are getting your heating system checked.

Scheduling your inspection before the summer starts will help you save energy and lower your bills as soon as you start using air conditioner again. If you don’t have your AC unit tuned up by a professional annually, your air conditioning system can lose up to 5% of its overall efficiency each year. Depending on the type of system you have in your home, an AC system that is performing at its highest efficiency level can reduce your monthly energy bills in half. You can also recover the lost efficiency through regular maintenance if you start now. Air conditioners that are working more efficiently will also last longer and improve indoor air quality by controlling humidity levels within the home.

Don’t wait until it gets hot to schedule your annual AC maintenance exam. If you need a repair, or your air conditioner breaks down, you don’t want to be left without air conditioning for any length of time during the summer.

Take advantage of the first signs of warm weather, and be sure to schedule your appointment in the spring. A good way to remember is to schedule around the major spring holidays, usually around Easter or Passover. If you haven’t already scheduled your AC maintenance inspection, call today!
